Chess

I wanted my M.A.T.H. students to leave the class being able to play chess. In each class I’ve taught, no more than 1 or 2 (out of 20) knew coming in to the class. We spent about 4 total days learning and playing chess. It was another great unit in M.A.T.H. because it is a lifelong skill that students will take with them after graduation. In upcoming installments of this unit, I hope to teach students general strategies of offense and defense, some standard moves, and speed chess using a chess clock.
